prayer by Billy Graham

Billy Graham’s Prayer For Our Nation

‘Heavenly Father, we come  before you today to ask your forgiveness and to seek your direction and guidance.  We know Your Word says, ‘Woe to those who call evil good,’ but that is exactly what we have done.  We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values. We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery. We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare.  We have killed our unborn and called it choice. We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable.  We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building self esteem.  We have abused power and called it politics. We have coveted our neighbor’s possessions and called it ambition.  We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of expression.  We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called it enlightenment.  Search us, Oh God, and know our hearts today; cleanse us from every sin and Set us free. Amen!

soak on that for a minute….

recording update

I have been recording everyday since Friday.  It has been a fun time.  Had Nic Jeffers play drums on the tracks and Eric Putnam playing bass.  I laid down the guitars on Saturday.  We recorded vocals on Sunday evening and Monday evening, and tonight kept finishing up the rough mixes, so I could have them two show around.  We got two songs done.

So that gives me 2 more songs ready for my batch of 20 – 30 that I am hoping to have recorded and ready to pitch by March 1st.

Potentially release another independent EP from the recordings as well this spring.

Acoustic Christmas cd…

So just a couple of weeks ago, I was kinda bummed out that I did not have more ways to play more Christmas music this season. There are so many songs out there and only about a month to use them.

So anyways, being the spontaneous person that I am, I decided to just record a simple acoustic instrumental record with the intentions of just handing it out at my church to spread some Christmas cheer. Well, I set up with a mixer and a mac in my living room and after a two nights of recording and playing around with some acoustic arrangements, finished 8 songs acoustically.

My goal was to have nothing but acoustic guitars on every track and I stuck to it.

And here I am a week later and after playing it for a few friends, quickly found out that this was going to be something that I could share with more then my church family. I have sent almost 200 Cd’s through email to this point and burned almost 200 copies to give out by hand. My friends then take them and have burned them for friends and family to share for the holiday season.

It has been a really neat thing to see spread. I have even gotten word that it has been playing around town from beauty salons to office buildings.

I joke with my friends that I spend 3 months slaving over an EP, and then I spend 2 nights making a whole acoustic album and it’s a hit. Thats just the way it goes though some times, nothing forced, things just happen.

So if anyone who is reading this would like a copy, here is the link for the Zip that will have all the songs.

If, for some reason the link is not working, just email me at

Here is the track listing.

1. The Christmas Song (chestnuts roasting…)

2. White Christmas

3. O Holy Night

4. Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas

5. This Christmas

6. I’ll be home for Christmas

7. What Child is This

8. Please Come Home for Christmas

Enjoy a night of relaxing music on me!

still spinning

My mind is easily consumed by all the new music that is in my head and all the new songs that I am excited about working on.

As anyone who writes can relate, it’s very easy, especially when you have new material waiting, to feel like your previous music is old news.

So it’s nice to see when it is still finding new ways to pop up.

Most of you are familiar with the huge music festival Cornerstone. This happens every summer outside of Bushnell, Illinois. Well we were invited for the first time to play on stage this past summer. Unfortunately, this is when gas was like $15 a gallon, so as much as we were looking forward to playing, we did not feel at the time we could afford to make the trip, since it was up to us to get there on our own.

It has always been a joke of mine that the first time I would go to Cornerstone would be when I play there. I thought that would come true this past summer, but now we will just have to wait and see.

But even with us having to drop out of the line up, they still wanted us to be a part of their compilation Cd that they were putting together to promote. So we were happy to be still a part of Cornerstone through the Cd.

We were also asked to be apart of the LP compilation Cd. LP (The Launching Pad) was a great all ages venue in Muncie. It recently had to shut down due to financial problems. They put out a Cd to celebrate their short time in existence. They asked us to be apart of it, as we have played there several times. It was released the first of November.

the Cd has mostly area bands that had followings at the venue and played there often. However, if you notice, The Ataris are the next track after us. That is pretty neat for me just because i used to listen to the Ataris back in high school and really enjoyed some of their earlier music. They had played at LP a few times recently.

So we will see if any old songs keep showing up other places.

one year later…

So it’s been just over a year since MLP released its first official EP, entitled “You against yourself”.

It isn’t gonna be called a masterpiece of music by anyone, but it was a great first EP to help us play close to 100 shows since then and give our friends and fans something to take home and listen to. We even got some radio airplay out of it.

Everyone has a start, and this was ours. Who knows what adventures are in store for MLP in the coming years, but at least for 2008, this EP helped us start our musical journey and get our name out there.

It’s been a good time.
